Article 8The Constitution of the State of Connecticut

ARTICLE VIII.
SEC. 1. Section 5 of article fifth of the constitution is repealed. SEC. 2. Section 6 of said article fifth is amended to read as follows: No judge shall be eligible to hold his office after he shall arrive at the age of seventy years, except that a chief justice or judge of the supreme court, a judge of the superior court, or a judge of the court of common pleas, who has attained the age of seventy years and has become a state referee may exercise, as shall be prescribed by law, the powers of the superior court or court of common pleas on matters referred to him as a state referee. Adopted November 27, 1974.
